Celebrate Chinese New Year at These Bethesda Restaurants on Jan. 22

Category: Uncategorized

Here in the United States, we might be suffering from the post-New Year blues already, but the Chinese New Year hasn’t even arrived yet. We can all celebrate it on January 22, when the Year of the Rabbit arrives and hopefully brings 365 days of luck.

This Chinese New Year, which is the most important festival in China and is known as a time to feast, you can celebrate right here in Bethesda by heading to one of our area’s many amazing, authentic Chinese eateries. Here are a few to check out near your Elm apartment.

City Lights of China, located at 4953 Bethesda Ave, Bethesda which is an eight minute walk from your Elm apartment, is a casual, longtime restaurant that offers generous servings of familiar Chinese eats.

Over the past 10 years, City Lights of China has consistently been recognized for excellence by Zagat as one of the top Chinese restaurants in the area with their authentic Szechuan and Beijing dishes. Their servers are extremely knowledgeable and will be delighted to assist with menu selections or special requests.

Q By Peter Chang, located at 4500 East-West Hwy #100, Bethesda which is a six minute walk from your Elm apartment, is a modern, refined Szechuan restaurant owned by Peter Chang, an award-winning chef who has cooked at restaurants throughout the nation.

Chang was born in Hubei Province, trained in China and once cooked a meal for former Chinese president Hu Jintao. He moved to the United States to work as the chef at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. Q, which stands for Qijian, means “flagship” in Chinese, as Chang intends for this location to be his home base and the largest in his local restaurant empire.
