Shop For Local, Artisan Holiday Gifts At These Bethesda Stores

Category: Uncategorized

Anyone can pick up a designer shirt or a gift card for their loved one this holiday season. But if you really want to give a gift that will stand out, you don’t have to go far – you can head to one of these shops selling artisan, handmade items near our Elm apartments.

This December, give a gift that not only shows your friend or family member how much you care about them, but also supports a local crafter and business. Pick up a one-of-a-kind item from these Bethesda stores!

The Blue House, located at 7833 Woodmont Ave, Bethesda which is a 10 minute walk from your Elm apartment, is a playful shop featuring a colorful array of jewelry, bags and clothing, plus baby gifts and home accents.

The Blue House owner, Connie, has 30 years of experience in the retail industry, beginning with her first store in Tysons Galleria, to having three stores, to eventually opening in Bethesda in 1995. Here, you’ll find gifts, books, kitchenware, bath and body products, and even some fun tchotchkes, all lovingly curated by The Blue House.

Wiggle + Scoot, located at 5007 Greenway Dr, Bethesda which is seven minutes from your Elm apartment, offers a blend of Southern style and modern sensibility. They source their product lines with an eye on current design trends and partner with vendors that deliver a high level of quality and value. Their products are all customizable – and unique to your individual style.

Emily Warke, the owner of Wiggle + Scoot, was born in Cleveland, Tennessee. When she moved to Washington, D.C. in 2005, she wanted to show her Southern roots by monogramming everything for her boys. She started by making her own monogrammed bibs and burp cloths and eventually, Wiggle & Scott was born.
